On any given day, scientists are hopping among multiple systems and point solutions to review, input, and analyze data, resulting in inefficient workflows and costly errors for R&D companies. The expanding collection of instruments used by R&D teams complicates matters, producing massive amounts of data in proprietary formats.

These silos and lack of instrument integration have significant consequences. Benchling data reveals that scientists spend an average of 18 hours per week on cumbersome logistical data tasks, such as data capture, search, sample traceability, collation, and tracking scientific requests. 50% of scientists report that they struggle to access the insights they need to do their work.*

Solving this problem demands a central place where R&D teams can reference, integrate, and analyze their data — and that’s why we’re excited to introduce new Benchling analytics integrations.

Speed up your science with analytics integrations

It’s like peanut butter and jelly. Like Batman and Robin. Or ANOVA and Bonferroni. Simply put, Benchling and leading scientific analytics solutions are better together. Benchling has provided an ecosystem-driven, open source framework for ingesting lab data, added the ability to create data sets without code, and built point-and-click integrations to leading scientific analytics tools, such as JMP, Pluto, and Watershed. With these new Benchling analytics integrations, customers can leave the days of costly, siloed data behind. Benchling has also released a full set of API endpoints for analyses so that customers can integrate their own analytics tools into Benchling

Take a peek at what each of these new integrations offers below:

Drive faster decision making and better insights

With the introduction of Benchling’s codeless, point-and-click analytics integration experience, R&D teams can now drive faster, better decisions fueled by enhanced data-driven insights. Benchling customers are already seeing the value.

“Our R&D teams at Helaina are big users of both Benchling and JMP. Now, with the Benchling-JMP integration, we’re able to centralize, share, and take quicker action on the scientific results we’re analyzing. It’s not just about convenience; we now have what I’d liken to a central command center for our R&D, where all of our critical data is gathered, in real-time, for smarter analyses,” said Bryce Ferraro, Lead Engineer, Bioanalytical R&D.

R&D teams have shared how these product integrations have helped transform how they input, analyze, and share insights. Three key benefits include:

Standardized data

Benchling is extending the scope and reach of FAIR data best practices by creating a new open source framework and library of converters that automatically formats instrument-generated data to the Allotrope Simple Model (ASM) standard. Standardization is the first step to eliminating the manual effort of processing, integrating, securing, and managing instrument data used for scientific R&D.

Analytics integrations with codeless dataset creation

Instead of writing code to organize and analyze data, scientists can point-and-click to create datasets from Registry or Result schemas. Then, they can easily push those datasets into analytics tools (like JMP, Pluto, and Watershed) and pull back their analyzed data, results, and charts directly into Benchling. Plus, scientists can directly upload results via Benchling’s API (in JSON format) to Notebook entries. Using these analytics integrations, R&D teams can quickly review, share, and take action on the data and results they’re generating.

Streamlined workflows

With more standardized data, and more powerful analytics integrations (with JMP, Pluto, and Watershed), scientists can drive faster decision-making and better insights, helping them to accelerate their R&D timelines.
