Cirqle Biomedical

Revolutionizing women’s health by integrating, advancing and deepening data

Cirqle Biomedical was founded on a mission to expand the freedom of women through transforming reproductive health. With the development of a new contraceptive method that is absent of hormones, Cirqle is able to reduce the mental and physical side burdens that often accompany more traditional forms of birth control. By broadening the options and methods available to women in today’s society, the team at Cirqle is directly contributing to a better quality of life marked by self-determination.

A novel approach to birth control, Cirqle’s first product is currently under development. “Our experiments are based on two pillars,” explains Mònica Torrellas Viñals, Head of In Vivo Operations at Cirqle. “One is based on assay development — mostly in vitro assay development and in vivo assay development — and the other is formulation improvement.” Characterizing formulation chemical and physical properties, the team develops assets for testing efficacy and safety of candidates.

Prior to Benchling, Cirqle faced several challenges in the lab, most notably data management. “We had data stored in Google Drive locally stored on the scientist's device, making it difficult to analyze data holistically,” Mònica shares. With a unified, single platform, Benchling has eliminated data silos, enabling all entries to be shared, viewed, and accessed across the entire organization.

With a holistic solution, Cirqle now benefits from streamlined, structured data, enabling integration with other platforms, such as PharosBio. Being able to interact with and analyze data, all with a no code interface, allows for deeper research and bigger experimental strategies. By harnessing new discoveries, Cirqle is one step closer to creating breakthrough treatments for women.
